The problem is those dogs haven’t been truly care for.. look at their coats. In that environment, they should have slick shiny coats. It’s like people - you can feed them bread, pasta etc and they will stay alive and fat but not nourished. They need to try and get quality food donated from top feed companies so they get the right nutrients with correct amount of protein ie meat proteins and healthy feed not junk. That is slop ie slop is what was fed to hogs when people couldn’t really afford hog chow. They collected all the local bread, pastries, candy, if available gone over fruits, vegetables, sometimes spoiled, rotten milk, eggs, meat, (anything the grocery stores, bakeries, etc couldn’t sell under human food laws - wanted to get rid of and it was mixed just like shown and put in troughs. But what they get varies immensely from day to day, week to week. Vegetables could be anything from rotted tomatoes to barrels of corn husks where people pulled the husks and strings off before taking the corn to the register. By letting pig farmers get it, the stores didn’t have to pay for disposal. Knew someone that fed their livestock like this, they road around all day until the truck was full, in the hot sun for summer - already spoiled food just got worse. But dump cheap bulk molasses on it and they would eat it. If you remember pork use to be very fatty, when they had to start feeding them better - pork got very lean. These dog’s poop has to be horrible - smelly and messy. Someone said the dogs weren’t fighting- But look at what they are being fed and the dogs really are not eager for the food… mostly bread. If the dogs had just been recently fed, for the video, you wouldn’t have that atmosphere. Look they are obviously fed, many are almost overfed as they eat first keeping the other dogs away while they eat. I guess I feel it’s not always just about keeping them “alive” . It’s about their being healthy, fully nourished, them each loved, bathed and brushed, fleas and lice kept off them. They need vaccines, worming, heart worm protected. How much vet care do they get? I would rather see a smaller number of dogs being really cared for, glossy coats, etc. I’m sure many people wouldn’t see what I see looking at this video and think it’s perfectly wonderful that one man and maybe his small family are caring for 400 dogs. What happens when they have to go away, when they get sick - who then cares for the dogs? I hope he is trying hard to get them adopted out. I applaud the effort but as we all know - that is not an appropriate diet. Those are fat animals but not healthy dogs. Just look at their coats. You have to wonder what the pen looks like when not prepared for video. They were more thirsty than hungry. A couple of people can’t properly take care of 400 dogs. You see their coats are dirty, not brushed. So like I say, I appreciate the effort to save animals but only take on what you can handle and adopt out. This appears to be in Middle East. Here many pet hoarding operations end up with the animals being mistreated as the founders lose the ability to- physically and financially to properly care for the animals.
